FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
OPTI-FREE® CONTACT LENS SOLUTION

Can I use saline solution to clean my lenses?

No, saline solution is only meant to rinse your contact lenses, not clean and disinfect them. We recommend cleaning and storing your lenses in OPTI-FREE® solution.

What do I do if my OPTI-FREE® online coupon doesn’t work?

We suggest contacting Coupons.com for any questions or concerns. Our customer service team cannot provide new coupon links. Click here for more info.

What should I do if I run out of OPTI-FREE® solution?

While you might be tempted to use tap water, this is never a good idea as it can contain bacteria and germs harmful to your eyes. We recommend using saline to temporarily store your contact lenses but get them into OPTI-FREE® solution to clean and disinfect them as soon as you can and before you put your contact lenses on your eyes to avoid the risk of infection.

What is the difference between OPTI-FREE® Puremoist® and OPTI-FREE® Replenish®?

All of our OPTI-FREE® solutions are FDA approved for advanced cleaning and disinfecting. Each brand has unique ingredients that provide different levels of moisture and comfort. For optimal comfort, we recommend OPTI-FREE® Puremoist®. It contains HydraGlyde® Moisture Matrix which provides comfort from morning ‘til night.

Which multi-purpose solution is right for me?

Always ask your doctor first, because they know what’s best for your eyes. Most likely they will suggest OPTI-FREE® Puremoist®, the #1 doctor recommended solution.

Have the ingredients in OPTI-FREE® solutions recently changed?

No, OPTI-FREE® solutions continue to have the same proven ingredients. The packaging has been updated, however, to better reflect the optimal usage for your lenses. For example, we now recommend rubbing your lenses when using our solution for a deeper clean.

Can I use OPTI-FREE® contact lens solutions past their expiration date if the bottle hasn’t been opened?

It is never recommended to use OPTI-FREE® solutions after their expiration date. If you recently purchased a product that is expired, return it to the retailer for an exchange.

Can I reuse my contact lens solution or just add some more to what is in the case?

Reusing solution or “topping-off” is never recommended because it dilutes the cleaning and disinfecting power. Used solution is not only dirty but may contain harmful bacteria and cause eye infections. Always dump out the solution from your lens case after putting your lenses in your eyes and clean the lens case with a tissue, letting it dry before reuse.

Can I use my multi-purpose solution as a rewetting drop?

OPTI-FREE® multi-purpose solutions are formulated for cleaning, disinfecting, and rinsing your lenses immediately before putting them in your eyes. To rewet your contact lenses once they’re on your eyes, we recommend using an OPTI-FREE® Rewetting Drop for an additional burst of moisture.

Are OPTI-FREE® solutions compatible with hard (RGP) lenses?

No. OPTI-FREE® solutions are formulated for soft (hydrophilic) lenses only.

Are multi-purpose solutions safe to use while pregnant?

Yes, but check with your doctor just to be safe.

Where can I buy OPTI-FREE®?

OPTI-FREE® products are available nationwide at all major retailers, or order through your computer from any of our product pages.

Can I bring my OPTI-FREE® contact solution on an airplane?

Technically, TSA permits contact lens solutions to be carried on board a flight. While a large bottle of OPTI-FREE® solution may be permitted by the TSA, we suggest packing a 2oz travel-sized bottle in your carry on bag, since it may be easier going through security. What do I do if I run out of contact lens solution?
